Inspired by nature's creations and limited only by my imagination I am often awed as I discover the secret treasure of colors, textures and the inherent beauty of the natural grains of the wood of a felled tree. I started turning in the early 90's and I find it to be relaxing, inspiring, exciting and often humbling as I feel the wood and smell the sawdust of the piece before me. I often wonder as I drive by a wooded area as to what great finds would be in there.
The growth history and living experiences of a tree produce the individual characteristics of each piece of wood that I use. The final design is determined by these so called "imperfections" that I think of as gifts from nature. These beauty marks make each piece one of a kind.
